Avg updating every day
my personal opinion would be to remove AVG and give Avast free a shot, much better real-time protecion, no scheduled scans and automatic updates.AVG not updating was the reason I switched to Avast 8 years ago and never looked back. I also install Avast on all my clients PC's....works GREAT! Avast is far superoior for real time protection, updating every single day sometimes 2 or 3 times, fully automatically and never had any viruses or email threats get through (and I get loads on a daily basis).
I then set the automatic update to happen at a time when I knew that my computer would be on every day. But, I just heard from a customer that said that it succeeded this afternoon. That translates to approximately 55 minutes for the version 8 installable (5megbyte file). Also how do you do auto updates in 8 in 7 it worked. Now in 8 I have to right click on the icon and click update. There are no short cuts to anything worth doing To set auto update in 8.0 Free:-Open AVG-Double click on Update Manager-at the bottom of the page, under Update Manager Settings, check "start automatic updates"-select "at a specific time" and enter the time that you want the update to happen each day. One thing I've noticed, though, is that it seems to have a harder time updating than version 7.On different customer PCs and internet connections, I've seen them slow and stop and then fail before the updates could complete. Can anyone running AVG 8.0 Free do start a manual update and report if it goes quickly and completes?? It seems to go quicker at different times of the day.Every day my computer insists on doing a virus scan. Every day it finds anywhere from 4-6 trojan horse viruses on my computer. Nobody else uses my computer without me being RIGHT THERE. Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown." Good luck.
So, of course, every day I quarantine, clean, and permanently delete these viruses.
I try to minimize the number of things happening when on boot up.

My feeling is there's a problem with the AVG update server(s), unless someone at AVG tells me differently!
Something over a week ago, it went all day without being able to finish an update. I'm in western Canada and have my autoupdate set for PM PDT.
Now, after the trial has finished my Internet security has been turned off and I keep getting pop-ups to subscribe. You can go back to the free version but the only way to do that is to completely remove all AVG software from your PC.
